Zakir Designs is an architecture and interior design studio working across Pakistan, from the plains of Punjab and Sindh to the valleys of the north. We design homes, workplaces, hospitality and public buildings that respond to their climate, their materials and the people who use them.
How we work
Every project begins with the site: where the sun rises, where the wind comes from, what grows there and what already stands nearby. We work closely with clients and with local craftspeople, and we stay involved from the first sketch to the final handover.
- Climate first: shade, cross-ventilation and thermal mass before machines.
- Honest materials: brick, stone, timber, lime plaster and concrete, used with care.
- Local skills: details that skilled builders in the region can realise well.
- Long-term thinking: buildings that are easy to maintain and comfortable to grow old with.
