The brief
A young couple wanted a calm, warm home with room for guests and for their books, without knocking down the building’s structure.
The design
We opened the living space to the best window, framed it with an arch and used built-in joinery to hide storage. A lit niche and a pendant lamp give the room a glow in the evening, and the bedroom is kept simple and quiet.
Materials and climate
Lime plaster walls, oak joinery and small brass details keep the palette warm and restrained. Good daylight, ceiling fans and light colours reduce the need for cooling.
